Orlando Reyna

Project type

Musical Instruments

Bio

Orlando Reyna brings a deeply personal and evolving body of work shaped by unexpected beginnings. His artistic journey started in 2002 while working for a homebuilder in the Texas Hill Country.
After hours, he gathered discarded sheetrock and leftover fluorescent marking paint from job sites, using them to create early pieces ranging from hillside crosses to a portrait of Bob Marley.
As he gained access to better materials, Reyna shifted to small canvases and nature-inspired subjects - dragonflies, butterflies, bamboo gardens, and peaceful landscapes.
What began as a hobby quickly became a defining part of his identity.
A pivotal moment came during a conversation with his father while strumming a guitar. After hearing, "Once a guitar is broken, it's almost impossible to get the same sound from it again", Reyna realized that even if an instrument could no longer make music, it could still tell a story through art. That insight transformed his creative path.
Since then, Reyna has specialized in turning musical instruments into one-of-a-kind works of art. Guitars, basses, saxophones, pianos - if it once made music, he brings it new life through bold color, energy and expressive design, preserving the spirit each instrument carries.
