Leona Pleasant, an artist and photographer whose bold color palette and Gulf Coast sensibility have become her signature.
Pleasant works primarily in acrylics, building her paintings through multiple layers to achieve the depth, texture and saturated color she's known for. Influenced by both abstract and contemporary styles, her pieces blend realism with vibrant, expressive hues - a style shaped by her years along the Texas Gulf Coast.
Her subjects reflect that connection: colorful fish, pelicans, bay houses, lighthouses, palm trees, boats, seashells and other coastal icons. As a published photographer and a multimedia artist with more than 40 juried shows to her name, Pleasant draws inspiration from the world through her camera lens, translating those moments into energetic, original works on canvas.
