D. Dwight Dawson, came to full-time art after a long professional career, embracing the freedom to pursue work driven by personal meaning and narrative.
He began formal study in 2014 with Houston artist Bridget Wolk and continued developing his craft through workshops with noted international instructors. His time with the Brenham Fine Arts League helped shape his path toward competitive exhibitions and gallery representation.
Dawson describes each piece as carrying a story - a moment, memory, or connection that fuels his passion for painting. After 45 years of "making a living", he now devotes himself to making art, guided by the belief that every canvas begins with something worth telling.
