Bio
Barbara Curtis brings a collection shaped by a lifetime of creating beauty and sharing joy through art. For Curtis, art has always been the most natural way to express herself, even before she fully understood its place in her life.
That clarity arrived the moment she stepped into her first college level art class, when, as she describes it, fireworks went off in er head and heart. From that point on, there was no other path.
Curtis went o to earn a BA from the University of Houston Clear Lake ad an MFA from the Rochester Institute of Technology, grounding her intuitive love of art in formal training.
A colorist with realistic tendencies, she draws inspiration from beauty, kindness, love and the quiet moments that uplift the spirit. Her work spans oil painting, watercolor, sculpture and jewelry, including hand beading and repurposed materials and she is currently exploring new forms through papier mache.
She believes one of the great gifts of an artistic life is that the path never ends. There is always something new to learn. a fresh medium to explore, or a different way to see the world.
